The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) is seeking applications for tenured or tenure-track faculty positions. All academic ranks will be considered. Applicants must have earned a doctorate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely affiliated discipline by the time of their appointment (anticipated 1 September 2026).

We are particularly interested in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering applicants with expertise in:

• Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning which includes one or more of the following areas: supervised and unsupervised machine learning, neural networks, neuromorphic computing, deep learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, generative AI, explainable AI, human-AI interaction, autonomy, agents, multi-agent systems, and robotics.
• Quantum computing, Quantum communications, Quantum Sensing, Quantum materials, Quantum precision navigation and timing
• Cybersecurity
• Computer architecture and/or Hardware design which includes Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) design, optimization, and applications, or Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI) design and development.
• Electronic warfare (EW), adaptive EW or cognitive EW which includes advanced electromagnetic theory, digital signal processing, adaptive antenna systems and RF/microwave engineering

Successful candidates will be expected to:

• Teach Computer Science and/or Computer Engineering classes at the graduate level.
• Establish and sustain a strong externally funded research program relevant to the Department of Defense, with a sustainable record of related peer-reviewed publications.
• Supervise and mentor graduate students in research.
• Collaborate with other faculty, government agencies, and industry partners to contribute to AFIT’s mission.
