Aerospace Tig Welder 3rd Shift
- Welds together metal components as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, or manufacturing operations sheet (MOS), using Tig welding equipment.
- Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as specified. Starts power supply to produce electric current.
- Manually guides torch along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle.
- Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
- Manually applies filler rod to supply weld metal. Cleans weld joint or workpiece. Prepares rework parts for welding.
- Positions or clamps workpieces together or assembles them in a jig or fixture.
- May tack assemblies together.
- Will use a computer daily (checking email, viewing/downloading shop drawings and instructions)
- Will have the ability to perform the following:
- Subtract, multiply and divide fractions, decimals and whole numbers
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or graphic form
- Apply learning and experience to deal with variables within specifications
- Read safety rules in the use and maintenance of shop equipment.
- Read related technical material and apply principles to daily operations (this includes reading and interpreting blueprints).
- Accurately read and complete forms
- Complete the Elano welding vision test (as a new hire and annually)
- Use standards shop measuring devices (calipers and micrometers)
- High School diploma or GED
- Successful completion of a TIG Welding Training Course (formal program)
- Or previous experience as a TIG welder with 6 months experience
- Successful completion of the Unison-Dayton TIG Welding Assessment
- Team Player and willing to operate in a professional environment

- Wages $24.10 - $30.00 per hour based on experience
- Additional $1.50 Premium for 3rd shift!!
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds. May occasionally lift 50 pounds (with assistance).

- You'll be operating and working around moving machines - stand-up forklifts, mobile carts, cranes, etc. Due to normal machining operations there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL)).
- Team oriented, ability to share ideas and make recommendations with peers and leadership
- In addition to sitting and standing while operating equipment, some activities may require standing in one place for long periods, walking around, or climbing stairs.
- Most areas are climate controlled.
