Your role
Position Summary: To safely and efficiently operate equipment in their respective areas, according to established procedures and instructions, to consistently produce designated materials according to defined specifications
Essential Functions:- Maintain and promote a safe and environmentally compliant working environment. This includes utilizing proper PPE, following all Safety, Health and Environmental guidelines and actively participating in safety meetings and discussions. Be aware that any employee has the responsibility to not operate unsafe equipment or not take operational risks outside of procedures that may create a Safety, Health or Environmental concern.
- Be responsible for adequately monitoring processes. This includes log sheets (MDE’s), Parc View trends, OD rounds and procedure reviews.
- Interface with many functional groups: Maintenance, Process Engineering, Process Control Engineering, Project Engineering, R&D, Shipping & Logistics, and Contractors. As such, support and be pro-active in process, product and equipment improvement efforts led by these functional groups.
- Serve as the main responsible party for the Permit to Work procedures in the plant:
- Permit-to Work
- Lock Out/Tag Out
- Hot Work
- Confined Space Entry.
- Utilize information from process and analytical tools to operate equipment per operating procedures to produce consistent, quality controlled material and according to schedule.
- Must be able to multi-task, operating several pieces of equipment simultaneously.
- Make process adjustments as needed based on information gathered from a variety of sources (sample analysis, computer monitors, etc.
- Analyze and interpret samples mostly via gas chromatograph.
- Possess a working knowledge of the controls in their specific area.
- Must be knowledgeable and capable of process / equipment troubleshooting and recommending/implementing corrective actions as required—note that any changes outside of existing procedures must follow our Management of Change process.
- Communicate effectively with supervision and peers.
- Responsible to participate in any audits performed in your area.
- Enter concerns and incidents in the Safety system.
- Identify and share continuous improvement ideas that may enhance process, safety and cost reduction.
- Undertake and successfully complete training and development activities. Provide training for others as required.
- Be available on on-call hours.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
- Respond to emergencies plant wide (injuries, process upsets, fires).These will be directed by the Incident Commander
- Participate actively in PHA efforts for his/her equipment.
- Promote and maintain adherence to food safety, food defense, and compliance with Food Safety Standards as defined by FSSC 22000.
- Act at all times as a professional operator, treat others with respect and operate as a team within your unit and with other groups in the facility.
- You will be expected to maximize productivity at all times. This includes housekeeping, line labeling, and tank labeling as well as some minor maintenance.
About you
This position is for a Chemical Production Technician in a manufacturing environment. The schedule is rotational shift work, 12-hour shifts, rotating between day and night shifts. Overtime is required as needed.
Working conditions may include non-climate controlled areas where high temperatures and humidity are experienced during the summer and cold temperatures during the winter months. Working at heights.
Starting rate of pay is $27/hr. Up to 4% bonus eligibility.
- High School degree or equivalent.
- Must have passed Operators Test.
- Forklift certification will be required. If not yet certified, must successfully go through training for certification.
- Proficiency preferred in Microsoft Office and SAP.
- Solid written & verbal communication skills as well as a positive, coachable personality are required.
