Supply Chain Supervisor
The Supply Chain Returns Supervisor will support and assist the Operations Manager with day-to-day activities in their assigned functional area. Responsible for safety, service, cost, quality, and most importantly their team while being consistent with business and customer service objectives. Performs related duties or as required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee the processing of returned merchandise ensuring items are inspected for damage. Determine appropriate disposition (restock, refurbish, dispose) per company policy.
- Provides hands on leadership, directing and leading team members to achieve customer service and department objectives. Collaborate with other departments to optimize labor and merchandise flow.
- Train, coach, develop, and manage 10 to 40 team members in an assigned functional area in accordance with established procedures and schedules. Monitor performance and provide feedback.
- Partner with Customer Care, Inventory Control, and downstream customers to resolve discrepancies and improve the returns process.
- Keep activities on track; escalates any out-of-scope problems to the next level of leadership.
- Analyze operational procedures and processes to suggest improvements to enhance productivity and reduce operating costs.
- Assures safety and maintains acceptable departmental organization and housekeeping standards.
- Maintain team member production and accuracy records, labor hours and carryover reports for assigned area.
- Assures equipment in the assigned functional area is well maintained.
- Communicates with assigned team members as well as all levels of management to assure positive team member relationships and a proactive approach for solving team member problems.
Core Competencies & Accomplishments:
- Strong leadership and understanding of return logistics, inventory systems, and warehouse management systems (e.g., WMS).
- Strong problem-solving aptitude and ability to take ownership of the returns department.
- Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods of time / entire shift.
- Six months direct management experience in a warehouse, distribution center, or fulfillment center environment preferred.
- Excellent organizational and verbal / written communication skills required.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) preferred.
- Must be detail oriented and can initiate accurate correspondence and reports.
