Farm Hand / Property Maintenance needed in Oberlin, OH

Location: Oberlin, OH, with regular support at the Bay Village home and rare support at the Marblehead, OH home

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Live-Out (local candidates preferred)

Start Date: Late February – March

Compensation: $55,000 - $60,000 Annually - W-2 employment

Overview

A private family is seeking a dependable and motivated Farm Hand / Property Maintenance professional to support daily farm operations, grounds care, and light property maintenance across one farm and two other properties. This role is hands-on and supportive in nature and works closely with an on-site Farm Manager. No management or supervisory experience is required, making this an excellent opportunity for a candidate right out of agriculture school with a strong work ethic and interest in farming, land care, and skilled labor.

Core Responsibilities

Animal & Farm Support

• Daily animal care, including feeding, watering, environment upkeep, and basic health checks

• Assist with ordering and stocking animal feed and supplies

• Support maintenance and repairs of animal housing and farm structures

• Assist with honey harvests and other seasonal farm activities

• Research and assist with improvements to animal care and farm operations

Gardening & Land Care

• Gardening support including fruits, vegetables, and weed maintenance

• Landscaping and trail mowing

• General groundskeeping and property upkeep

• Snow plowing, driveway marking, and winter maintenance

Property Maintenance & Handyman Support

• Power washing exterior areas

• Light repairs and maintenance at multiple properties (Bay Village, Marblehead, Oberlin)

• Replace furnace filters, maintain smoke detectors, and track maintenance schedules

• Coordinate and assist with house and barn service appointments

• Prepare barns and properties for events

• Set up event spaces, move furniture, and assist with pickleball court setup

• Stock log holders and maintain common-use supplies

Errands & Transportation

• Run parts, supply pickups, and contractor support errands

• Transport vehicles for service and diagnose minor vehicle issues

• Drive family members to and from the airport as needed

• Unlock the Oberlin house biweekly for cleaning staff

Ideal Candidate

• Open to candidates right out of agricultural school with a strong interest in farming, property care, or skilled trades

• Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn

• Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons

• Physically capable of lifting, moving equipment, and performing manual labor

• Comfortable using basic tools and equipment (training provided as needed)

• Valid driver’s license required
