Shipping Supervisor

- Work with Team members and other leaders to monitor standards of work and process flow within the department or work area to meet production and customer requirements
- Responsible to execute goals and objectives for the plant.
- Oversee daily shipping operations to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment
- Partner cross-functionally to develop strategies, processes, and tools required to enable efficient and effective part & information flow
- Develop key performance metrics to identify opportunities for process improvements, costs savings, and increased operational efficiency
- Own daily reporting on part status: locations, quantities, ETA, risks & opportunities
- Work closely with Planning, Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Purchasing functions to ensure parts are shipped
- Partner with Purchasing to monitor vendor performance: past due tracking and miss-shipping by vendor
- Develop plans, and procedures to carry out company policies, practices and objectives to ensure legal, ITAR and EAR compliance with both state and federal laws related to export shipments, & recordkeeping
- Main point of contact for all outside service providers
- Manage, train, and schedule shipping staff
- Coordinate with carriers, freight providers, and logistics partners
- Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, safety standards, and company policies
- Prepare and review shipping documentation, including bills of lading and packing lists
- Monitor shipping costs and implement cost-saving initiatives
- Resolve shipping errors, delays, and customer delivery issues
- Track shipment status and maintain accurate shipping records
- Collaborate with warehouse, inventory, sales, and customer service teams
- Evaluate and improve shipping processes for efficiency and accuracy
- Shipping Team Leadership
- Collaborate with production control, quality, program and account management to ensure logistics workflows align with production plans, customer delivery requirements, and sales orders
- Ensure shipment compliance with safety, regulatory standards, as well as internal shipping procedures
- Streamline and integrate shipping and receiving teams to enhance communication, resource utilization, and overall operational efficiency
- Implement and monitor key shipping performance metrics
- Provide strategic direction, coaching, and performance management to the reporting team
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring clear communication and accountability
- Identify and address performance concerns, implementing corrective action plans as needed
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management and logistics or related field
- Experience: Manufacturing experience required.
- Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, Oracle reports and Internal Method Sheets (IMS). Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form. Excellent team skills and ability to interact with other employees, engineers and leadership. Ability to report progress and work with engineers to solve issues.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- REASONING ABILITY - Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- COMPUTER SKILLS - Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office and Manufacturing software
- Working Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Safety requirements for this position are safety glasses and steel-toed work boots.
- Physical Demands: Standing/Walking long periods of time. Candidate will need to be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time up to 6+ hours at a time.
