At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

At Jacobs, we challenge what is currently accepted, so we can shape innovative and lasting solutions for tomorrow. If you’re interested in a long and rewarding career working with the industry’s best and most innovative engineers, then Jacobs is where you belong. We are looking for a driven, well organized, and client focused Senior Civil Engineering Professional to grow with our team in our Cincinnati, Ohio, Cary, North Carolina, Conshohocken, PA or Indianapolis, IN office locations.

As a Senior Civil Engineering Professional you will collaborate closely with a full service EPCM team consisting of architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, construction managers, and other disciplines. You will lead civil engineering teams from Concept Design through Construction, as well as provide civil engineering input to our Jacobs Architecture Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as they develop feasibility studies, concept designs, and masterplans.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working directly with clients. A person who has a firm grasp of land development, zoning, and building codes, as well as best practices, and construction detailing – plus excellent organizational skills and proficiency in 3-D analysis and modeling tools. An individual who is able to take civil engineering concepts and follow through with the necessary construction documentation, as well as coordinate with architecture and other in-house engineering disciplines. Someone who can continue beyond the engineering phase to assist with permitting efforts and construction activities.

Bring your creativity, ambitious spirit, and extreme attention to detail, and we’ll help you grow, pursue, and fulfill what drives you – so we can deliver extraordinary solutions for a better tomorrow, together.

We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery. We empower employees with our hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations enabling them to deliver their best work.

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree or higher–level degree from an ABET accredited engineering school.

• At least 8+ years of applicable professional experience.

• Professional Engineering license in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering preferred

• Experience in organizing and leading a civil engineering / landscape architecture team through the implementation of the project execution process – including Concept Design, Basis of Design, Detail Design, Procurement, and Construction Support.

• Advanced knowledge and experience in the design process, construction documentation, construction administration, materials and methods of construction, as well as land development, zoning, and building codes.

• National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) experience.

• Advanced understanding of civil engineering design and their interrelationships with other disciplines.

• Experience performing construction administration activities – responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, preparing field observation reports, and punchlisting.

• Willingness to work remotely and engage virtually with team members in different geographic locations.

• Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities; coordinating work with engineering disciplines and specialty consultants; independently as well as collaboratively.

• Ability to perform quality checking or accept and implement quality checking by others.

• Experience supervising the work of other design professionals.

• Proficiency in storm drainage and stormwater management modeling.

Ideally you'll have:

• Strong interpersonal skills – speaking, writing, listening, including client presentation skills.

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and AutoTURN.

• Proficiency with MS Office, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam Revu.

• Focus on Life Sciences projects including but not limited to Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Light Industrial, and Light Chemical.

• Site planning and land development experience.

• Familiarity with LEED and / or sustainable strategies.

• Involvement in professional and /or community associations.

• Ability to contribute to the development of new ideas, techniques, and standards.
