Software Engineer - Europe Remote

Paymentology is the first truly global issuer-processor, giving banks and fintechs the technology, team and experience to rapidly issue and process Mastercard, Visa and UnionPay cards across more than 60 countries, at scale.

• Build and maintain robust backend services using  Java  and  Spring
• Work on a scalable, fault-tolerant API platform
• Dive into and make sense of large codebases through reverse engineering
• Collaborate in a remote team environment with asynchronous communication
• Write performant SQL and work directly with PostgreSQL
• Own features from design to deployment using Docker  and  Kubernetes
• Solve complex problems with persistence, creativity, and clean code

What We're Looking For

• 3–5 years of professional backend development experience
• Experience at at least one previous company
• Strong Java + Spring background
• Solid SQL knowledge; PostgreSQL experience is a plus
• Experience building API-based , scalable web services
• Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and tackle unfamiliar code
• Independence and self-motivation in a remote work setting
• A passion for high-quality, maintainable software
• Familiarity with Docker , Kubernetes , and modern CI/CD workflows
• GitHub fluency and comfort with pull request–driven development
• Experience with observability tools (monitoring, logging, tracing)
• Background in distributed systems or microservice architecture
