Tennis Summer Camp Opportunities & Year-Round Instructors
Calling all athletes, tennis enthusiasts, and individuals interested in both year-round and summer camp programming! The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) is seeking team-oriented, creative, and enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with kids to create quality tennis experiences for youth in the Beaverton Area.
This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to improve their leadership skills while working with youth both year-round and in our summer camp program. Many of our staff return year after year, contributing to a positive and dynamic environment. Selected candidates will receive THPRD's standard tennis camp training in June before the summer camps begin.

Summer Tennis Camp: Instructor 2
Instructor 2
As a Summer Tennis Camp Instructor, you’ll plan, prepare, and lead engaging tennis activities for camp participants. You’ll guide campers through skill-building exercises, run group games, and ensure a fun, energetic atmosphere throughout the day. Help campers improve their tennis skills while fostering teamwork and a love for the sport!
Pay Rate Range: $20.68 - $23.30 hourly, (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Year-Round Tennis: Instructors 3 & 4
Want to teach tennis all year long? These instructor roles focus on leading lessons, group games, and athletic activities for both youth and adults. Schedules may include daytime, evening, and weekend shifts.
Instructor 3
Experience: 2-4+ years of teaching experience.
Pay Rate Range: $22.82 - $25.69 hourly, (based on experience)
Tentative Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., with opportunities for daytime and weekend shifts.
Instructor 4
Requirements: Either RSPA Certification or PTR.
Experience: 2-4+ years of teaching experience.
Pay Rate Range: $32.11 - $36.14 hourly (based on experience)
Tentative Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., with opportunities for daytime and weekend shifts.
Requirements:
- You must be at least 16 years old to apply.
- Enjoy working with kids, teens, and/or adults
- Comfort and ability to work outdoors, rain or shine.
- For Year-Round Positions (Instructor 4): Either RSPA certification or Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) required.
- Current First Aid and CPR/First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Job Classification Status:
- Part-Time Variable (PT): Work an average of fewer than 20 hours per week, with less than 1,560 hours annually.
- Seasonal: Work up to 40 hours per week for a maximum of six consecutive months (Summer Camp positions).

PART-TIME VARIABLE (PT): Part-time variable (PT) employees work less than 29 hours per week on average annually. However, they have the option of working additional hours during periods like summer or winter months. PT are eligible to receive benefits such as Paid Time Off (PTO), Holiday Pay, Compassionate Leave, and Inclement Weather Pay (if required to work).
SEASONAL: Seasonal employment is temporary and allows employees to work only during certain times of the year, up to 40 hours per week for a maximum duration of six (6) consecutive months. Seasonal employees are eligible to receive benefits such as Holiday Pay, Compassionate Leave, and Inclement Weather Pay (if required to work). Effective February 15, 2026, seasonal employees will also be eligible to accrue Paid Time Off (PTO)!

- Bilingual employees who utilize their language skills in the workplace up to 10% of the time, can earn an additional 3% pay incentive. Effective February 15, 2026, the bilingual pay incentive will increase to 5%.

- Employees and their household can register for camps and classes during in-district registration and receive a 20% discount
- Paid Time Off - Paid leave type for part-time variable employees. Paid Time Off (PTO), will accrue at a rate of one (1) hour earned for every 30 hours worked. This is in addition to Sick leave and may be scheduled by employees for any reason! Effective February 15, 2026 the accrual rate for PTO will increase to one (1) hour earned for every 23 hours worked and will include seasonal employees!
- The ability to accrue paid sick leave at a rate of one (1) hour earned for every 30 hours worked
- Family Medical Leave eligibility for qualified family and medical related reasons
- Paid compassionate leave is available to all part-time employees to grieve the loss of an immediate family member, to make arrangements (if necessary), and to attend memorial services. Employees are eligible for paid compassionate leave for up to the hours scheduled in their average work week.
