Industrial Electro‑Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Industrial Electro‑Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Location: North Cincinnati (Cincinnati, OH area)
Industry: Paper packaging and converting
A night in the role
At 9:00 p.m., you step onto the plant floor and take in the rhythm of production—sheeters slicing to spec, slitters humming, creped paper machines and laminators moving product down the line, conveyors carrying the flow. Your shift is about keeping that rhythm steady.
You start with a preventive maintenance check, reading schematics and maintenance manuals to verify setpoints and safety interlocks. A motor on the laminator shows inconsistent amperage—you trace the issue, test controls, and rewire a connection to restore performance. Later, an escalated call brings you to a sheeter: a bearing has failed. You replace it, align the assembly, and verify the automated system is back in tolerance. Between calls, you fabricate a small bracket, weld a quick fix, and assist with the assembly and installation of a new conveyor section.
Throughout the night, you move fluidly between electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems—troubleshooting PLC inputs/outputs, validating 120/208/240/480V circuits, and ensuring every repair is tested and documented.
