Responsibilities
- Cardiology nurses assess patients' cardiovascular health by conducting physical examinations, measuring vital signs, and interpreting diagnostic tests such as electrocardiograms (ECGs).
- They monitor patients' heart rhythms and vital signs, administer medications, and provide post-operative care for patients recovering from heart surgeries. This includes using medical equipment like telemetry monitors and defibrillators to ensure patient stability.
- Educating patients and their families about heart health, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications is a significant part of their role. They provide guidance on medication management and encourage heart-healthy practices.
- Cardiology nurses work closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- In critical situations, they may implement advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) techniques and participate in rapid assessments to stabilize patients.
Requirements
- Current Ohio RN License
- Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiology or Cardiac Critical Care experience
- Active BLS and ACLS certifications
- Strong understanding of cardiac monitoring, hemodynamic support, and emergency response protocols
- Excellent communication and critical-thinking skills
