Salary: $62,400 annually
Status: Full Time, temporary through December 2026

Special Notes: Employees of the Ohio Commission for the U.S. Semiquincentennial are considered employees of Ohio History Connection. Positions with the Commission are temporary through December 2026 when the Commission will complete its main operations.
About the Commission:
The Ohio Commission for the U.S. Semiquincentennial (also referred to as America 250-Ohio) was formed through the Ohio Revised Code: Section 149.309 and announced on March 1, 2022 on Ohio's Statehood Day by Governor Mike DeWine. The (29) member commission is charged with preparing the state to participate in the United States of America's 250th anniversary which culminates on July 4, 2026.

During this multi-year commemoration, Ohioans from our local communities in all 88 counties, will be the spotlight of the impact that has/is/will be made on our nation's story. From the many "Firsts" that came from Ohio, (i.e. Aviation, Universities/Colleges and National Organizations), to the sacred stories of our residents, and the unique areas of the state that continues to evolve, the rich content of our state will be an opportunity for all people to connect and see themselves in Ohio's story...as well as the story of our nation.
Position Summary:
The America 250-OH Commission is seeking a highly organized and proactive individual to join our team as the Trails & Tales Project Coordinator. This role will be instrumental in helping to spread the word about the America 250-Ohio commission mission, activities and partnership opportunities. They will also be engaged in preparing and implementing commission projects. This role works with multiple teams to ensure the efficient flow of information and coordination with both internal and external teams. We are seeking candidates with strong organizational and writing skills to help coordinate a series of six statewide drive-it-yourself trails. This position works directly with the America 250-Ohio Trails Team, which consists of an America 250-Ohio Commissioner, the Trails Team Leader and America 250-Ohio staff liaisons.
Essential Functions:
Partner Research, Outreach & Engagement
- Research and identify potential partners aligned with each monthly theme.
- Conduct outreach to agencies, organizations, associations, and key stakeholders via email, phone, meetings, and presentations to secure participation and activities.
- Recruit and manage theme "influencers/ambassadors" who help expand networks and enhance program content.
- Serve as the main point of contact for partner questions, activity proposals, and follow-up communication.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive database of partners, activities, and related content.
Program Structure & Coordination
- Develop foundational structures for the program, including draft MOUs or similar agreements to guide partner collaboration.
- Coordinate communication and workflow with the Public Awareness Committee and individuals stewarding specific monthly themes.
- Track partner commitments, manage timelines, and ensure all activities and content are aligned with program objectives.
Content Research, Curation & Production
- Research and curate educational content for each theme, including social media materials, blogs, digital assets, Ohio Channel film collections, existing America 250-Ohio programs, books, and relevant external resources.
- Produce content where appropriate to fill gaps and support monthly storytelling needs.
- Compile an "asset map" that identifies available content, experiences, and locations-highlighting areas where additional resources or development are needed.
Marketing & Promotional Coordination
- Coordinate with the Communications team on the development and promotion of each themed month.
- Collaborate on content for themed web pages, calendars of events, and promotional materials. Ensure key partners and influencers have the materials they need to support statewide awareness and participation.
Required Education & Experience:
- Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field PLUS three to five years relevant working experience OR
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field PLUS one to three years relevant working experience.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Interest or experience in project coordination, public engagement, marketing, interpretation, nonprofit programming, or related fields.
- Strong organizational, project management, and follow-through skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, including comfort engaging new partners.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); familiarity with additional tools such as Canva preferred.
- Experience coordinating multi-partner initiatives or statewide collaborations.
- Background in content development, educational programming, or public history.
- Familiarity with CRM tools or databases for tracking partner engagement.
- Comfort working with influencers, ambassadors, or public-facing storytellers.

Work Environment
- Ohio-based location preferred.
- This position will involve hybrid, remote, and office-based work. Occasional travel throughout Ohio may be required for meetings, outreach, or presentations.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
- Regular use of a computer screen, requiring close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Reading and interpreting documents, spreadsheets, and computer screens.
