Position Summary:
The Department Leader is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Gummies Department. They are accountable for achieving daily, weekly, and monthly results across safety, quality, cost, productivity, and reliability while ensuring strict schedule adherence.
As a culture leader, you will model Pharmavite’s purpose and values, embedding a “first-time right” mentality. You will drive robust root cause problem-solving (CAPA) and build team capabilities through active coaching, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence & Strategy:
- AOP Execution: Execute the Annual Operating Plan, aligning departmental goals with the company’s strategic vision and managing expenditures to meet or exceed budget expectations.
- Workflow Management: Prioritize work to exceed productivity, safety, and quality goals. Coordinate with Production Planning, Maintenance, and Engineering to facilitate the seamless flow of raw materials and finished goods.
- Technical Support: Provide hands-on technical support for equipment and processes, including troubleshooting and developing control techniques.
- Yield Analysis: Perform detailed analysis of raw material usage and product yields to ensure standards are consistently met.
Quality & Continuous Improvement:
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all practices align with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Correct unsafe behaviors and conditions immediately.
- Problem Solving: Lead NCR (Non-Conformance Report) investigations in partnership with Quality, driving root cause analysis with urgency.
- Lean Leadership: Champion Autonomous Maintenance (AM) projects and daily improvement initiatives. Sustain operational changes to ensure long-term reliability.
People & Leadership:
- Performance Management: Directly supervise a team of 10 to 15 employees, providing meaningful feedback, teaching, and coaching to drive a high-performance culture.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HR, Tech Ops, Operational Excellence, and Distribution to optimize departmental throughput.
Education & Certifications:
- Degree: A four-year degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience is required. An Engineering or Manufacturing Systems degree is a plus.
- Certifications: Six Sigma or Lean/Continuous Improvement experience is highly preferred.
- Requirement: Must obtain internal Lean Green Belt certification and Kata learner status within one year of employment.
Experience:
- Industry: Minimum of 3-5 years in a Manufacturing or Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) environment.
- Leadership: Must include at least 3 years of direct supervisory/leadership experience.
- Domain Expertise: Specific experience in Food, Gummies, Confectionery, or related manufacturing in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environment is preferred.
Shift & Physical Requirements:
- Schedule: Must be able to work the night shift (6:00 PM to 6:30 AM), including a weekend rotation.
- Environment: Ability to work in a general operations/warehousing environment witha moderate amount of time on the floor walking the equipment multiple times a shift.
- Safety: Ensure safe practices are being performed, and unsafe behaviors and conditions are corrected

National Target Base Pay Range: $80,000.00 - $133,000.00.
The salary range for this position is based on national standards. For candidates in California and the New York metro, the Target Base Pay Range is $88,000.00 - $146,000.00, to reflect the cost of living and market conditions in those areas.
Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, education, experience, qualifications, and job-related skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired above the midpoint of the range for their role, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. Base pay is only one component of our total rewards offerings, and we will take the full offering into consideration when presenting an offer of employment. Our total rewards package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, Medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401K match, and other wellness benefits.
