Village Fiscal Officer (Clerk/Treasurer) -- Appointed Position

The Village is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Village Fiscal Officer to manage financial records, council documentation, and official municipal records. This appointed position combines the duties of Village Clerk and Treasurer and plays a key role in supporting the Village Council, Mayor, and residents.

The Fiscal Officer is appointed by the Mayor with approval from a majority of the Village Council .

Position Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Age: Must be at least 21 years old

  • Residency: Must reside within the Village unless otherwise approved by Village Council

  • Elector Status: Must be a registered voter of the Village if residing within the Village

  • Bonding: Must be able to be bonded in an amount determined by Village Council

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in public administration, accounting, finance, or a related field preferred

  • 3--5 years of administrative, clerical, finance, or records management experience preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Experience with the State of Ohio Uniform Accounting Network (UAN) software preferred

  • Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills

Key Responsibilities

The Village Fiscal Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate records, supporting council operations, and ensuring compliance with state requirements.

Primary duties include:

  • Attend all Village Council meetings and maintain official records of proceedings

  • Prepare meeting agendas and official minutes

  • Maintain custody of the Municipal Seal and official Village documents

  • Manage public records and archives in accordance with Ohio public records laws

  • Respond to citizen inquiries and concerns

  • Administer oaths of office and certify official documents

  • Process and manage public records requests

  • Maintain compliance with state reporting and statutory deadlines

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Mayor or designee

Training Requirement

The selected candidate must attend initial and ongoing training provided by the Ohio Auditor of State's Office for Village Fiscal Officers.
