CNC Field Reliability Technician

This is a 100% travel role with long-term, on-site deployments supporting mission-critical manufacturing operations. You’ll rotate into world-class plants, stabilize CNC assets, and keep lines hitting their production targets.

A day in the life

You wake up in your project city, badge into a high-speed facility, and get briefed by production. A machining center with Fanuc controls is drifting—spindle alarms, intermittent servo faults. You trace the issue at the panel, review ladder logic, swap a failed drive, and update the PM plan so it doesn’t happen again. After lunch, a coolant system needs re-plumbing; by evening, you’ve completed predictive checks on VFDs and logged status for leadership. Tomorrow, hydraulics.

What you’ll handle

• Find and fix mechanical, electrical, and control failures on CNC machinery in fast-paced environments
• Troubleshoot PLCs and ladder logic at the control panel
• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime
• Install, maintain, and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and coolant systems
• Repair/replace components: gauges, valves, regulators, motors, and drives
• Diagnose mechanical and electromechanical systems end-to-end
• Continuously improve PM programs and documentation
• Communicate clearly with client teams and Nordic project leaders
• Follow all safety, security, and PPE standards
• Juggle competing priorities in dynamic production settings

What it takes

• 5+ years of hands-on CNC maintenance experience (required)
• Expert mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting
• Experience with CNC controls, drives, and power distribution
• PLC troubleshooting experience
• Self-directed field work style and professionalism
• Willingness to travel nationwide (required)
• Strong communication skills

Compensation & benefits

• $42+/hour depending on experience
• Overtime at time-and-a-half
• Daily per diem: $100–$180 (lodging, meals, incidentals)
• Mileage reimbursement: one-time inbound travel at $0.70/mile
• Long-term project stability (typically 6+ months per site )

Work pattern

• Project-based role
• All shifts available (1st, 2nd, 3rd, weekends, OT)
• Travel-based position (nationwide)
