Job Summary
The Direct Care Staff position is responsible for providing in-home personal care and daily living tasks as outlined by an Individual Service Plan of individuals who are physically disabled, mentally alert or mentally changed. The goal of this position is to provide clients with the daily support to have a good quality of life.
Duties
- Ensure clients with assistance, company, and comfort by the delivery of quality services, to include running errands, meal preparation and assisting with eating and drinking, toilet support, personal hygiene, grocery shopping, etc.
- Ensure health and safety compliance and maintain quality of standards.
- Provide companionship to clients.
- Accompany clients on trips, to include medical appointments, day trips, outings, etc.
- Provide information, advice and support to residents.
- Monitor the physical, mental, and emotional conditions of clients and reporting changes to designated parties.
- Communicate with SSAs, caseworkers, local authorities and participate in ISP meetings and case reviews concerning clients.
- Ensure the maintenance of client files, which will include end of shift reports, incident reports, etc.
- Provide shift reports to house managers and or leadership as required, including reporting MUIs and UIs immediately.
- Communicate all concerns with management, following protocols.
- Implement client schedules and manage appointments.
- Instruct and advise clients on household cleanliness, hygiene, nutrition and finances.
- Conduct additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Direct Care Worker Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work various days and shifts.
- Valid drivers license.
- Ability to perform basic housekeeping duties, run errands, and prepare meals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, a caring approach.
- Exceptional ability to assist clients with mobility, personal care, and hygiene needs.
- Must obtain DODD certified training within 6 months of hire.
- Must maintain CPR and First Aid Training within 30 days of hire and keep active during employment.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in a similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of best practices in the provision of direct care.
- Experience in administering prescribed medications and treatments.
