Job Description
As a Machine Operator, you will play a crucial role in our manufacturing process by ensuring the proper operation and maintenance of machinery. You will be responsible for checking stack count lists, transferring materials, and organizing storage areas. Additionally, you will load parts into the Straightener, observe for defects, and ensure proper tagging of materials.
Responsibilities
- Check stack count lists for proper piece count and packaging.
- Transfer materials using cranes or pallet jacks.
- Organize storage areas by part number and heat codes.
- Load parts into the Straightener and monitor for defects.
- Set up and operate straighteners according to blueprints.
- Monitor calibration dates on gauges.
- Verify that materials are properly tagged before moving.
- Provide production line coverage as needed.
- Maintain part number and heat code integrity.
- Measure and straighten parts to specific tolerances.
- Report mechanical or safety issues to the foreman promptly.
- Inspect and determine the disposition of received baskets.
- Ensure materials are tagged and weighed correctly.
- Remove scrap axles and place them in proper containers.
- Reset machine counter at the end of the shift.
- Follow all safety and plant regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 1+ years of experience operating industrial forklifts.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in forklift operation, tow motor, and machine operation.
- Experience in steel manufacturing, inspection, and general labor.
- Familiarity with grinders, foundries, slitters, die-casting, and saw operation.
- Ability to read blueprints and use calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

Work Environment
Work in a unionized, heavy industrial forging environment that is not temperature controlled. Candidates must be open to all shifts: 1st (6:30am - 2:30pm), 2nd (2:30pm - 10:30pm), or 3rd (10:30pm - 6:30am). Off-shift positions receive additional pay. Overtime is paid after 8 hours of work. Ideal candidates are those familiar with heavy industrial settings.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.75 - $25.75/hr.
