Water & Wastewater Project Engineer

AECOMs Water Business Line  is seeking a talented Project Engineer to support our Water Wastewater and Water Resources practice based in the Greater Philadelphia Area (Philadelphia PA Conshohocken PA and/or Newark DE).

The selected employee will have a primary focus on water/wastewater/water resources utility planning design condition assessment and mapping for state municipal and private clients. The candidate will perform a variety of tasks including site investigations field measurements utility investigations capacity studies condition assessments conceptual through 100 percent design cost estimating and construction administration/observation. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to develop professionally through frequent collaboration with senior engineers project managers clients regulatory agencies and industry-leading subject matter experts and attendance at professional conferences.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Provides technical support for a variety of utility design related projects including treatment plants pump/booster stations water line and collection line design rehabilitation master planning and construction administration.
  • Create designs calculations sketches diagrams schematic drawings and final working drawings.
  • Work under supervision of a senior project manager in the water/wastewater/water resources practice or senior level team members.
  • Utilize basic engineering principles judgement theories practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems.
  • Work on routine or detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and engineering analyses.
  • Perform work with little supervision.
  • Propose approaches to solve new problems.
  • Identify discrepancies in outcomes results and analysis of engineering tasks.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Provide guidance to entry-level engineers.
  • Record field data using tablets and GPS units.
  • Record and interpret data conduct analyses prepare reports and compare findings to relevant studies and local state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Perform data gathering site visits field measurements mapping and observations during construction.
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
  • Software use includes but is not limited to: AutoCAD Civil 3D ArcGIS Bentley and/or hydraulic modeling packages.

 

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Civil engineering Environmental Engineering or related discipline 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in planning modeling and/or design of water wastewater and stormwater utility projects. 
  • Professional Engineer or ability to obtain PE licensure within one (1) year of employment.
  • Valid U.S. Drivers License and as a condition of employment must pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records Review.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer with 6 years of experience planning modeling and/or design of water wastewater and stormwater utility projects
  • Progressive experience with water/wastewater utility planning modeling condition assessment and design.
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD HCS AutoCAD MicroStation GIS Hydrologic/Hydraulic models). Demonstrated time management skills work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with technicians designers engineers and project managers for the preparation of high-quality work products.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate with clients subconsultants regulatory agencies and members of the public as may be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.
  • The ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn.
  • Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project.

  • The selected candidate must be available to work in  Philadelphia PA Conshohocken PA or Newark DE office on a hybrid scheduled basis.
