Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer produces complete engineering designs and construction deliverables from concept through completion, delivering best-in-class electrical solutions that align with applicable products, services, processes, codes, and standards. This role leads design-build pursuits and projects, develops technical methods and procedures, and supports construction teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient building electrical systems across a wide range of facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Produce comprehensive engineering deliverables, including detailed drawings, specifications, and related documentation for building electrical systems.

  • Review construction documents and provide clear comments on constructability, design improvements, value engineering opportunities, and scope gaps.

  • Lead design-build pursuits and projects by defining the scope of work, developing project schedules, and establishing and managing budgets.

  • Create energization procedures and electrical performance methods to ensure safe and effective commissioning of electrical systems.

  • Assist with equipment testing and system energization, and perform root cause analysis to resolve technical issues and improve system performance.

  • Interface closely with field operations, project operations, virtual design and construction (VDC), estimating, and prefabrication teams to coordinate design and implementation.

  • Provide construction support by walking project sites, performing field observations, writing requests for information (RFIs), and responding to technical questions from field and VDC teams.

  • Identify opportunities for design enhancements and produce business case studies that support improvements in performance, cost, or constructability.

  • Perform and review engineering calculations, including heat calculations, pull calculations, and power system studies, to validate design integrity and compliance.

  • Ensure all designs and deliverables comply with relevant electrical codes, standards, and best practices for building electrical systems.

Essential Skills

  • 8+ years of experience working with building electrical systems.

  • Strong proficiency in electrical engineering principles and practices related to building systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce engineering drawings, specifications, and construction deliverables.

  • Experience reviewing construction documents for constructability, design improvements, value engineering, and scope gaps.

  • Proven experience leading design-build pursuits or projects, including scope, schedule, and budget development.

  • Ability to develop energization procedures and electrical performance methods.

  • Hands-on experience supporting equipment testing, system energization, and conducting root cause analysis.

  • Capability to perform and review engineering calculations such as heat calculations, pull calculations, and power system studies.

  • Solid understanding of applicable electrical codes and standards for building electrical systems.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with field operations, project operations, VDC, estimating, and prefabrication teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with a variety of building types, such as healthcare facilities, data centers, stadiums, and other complex structures.

  • Background in value engineering and developing business case design enhancement studies.

  • Familiarity with virtual design and construction (VDC) workflows and coordination.

  • Ability to write clear and concise RFIs and technical responses for field and VDC teams.

  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on constructability and long-term system performance.

Work Environment

The role supports large, complex building projects across a range of sectors, including healthcare facilities, data centers, stadiums, and other technically demanding environments. Work involves a blend of office-based design and documentation as well as regular visits to active construction sites to perform field observations and provide construction support. The position requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including field operations, project operations, VDC, estimating, and prefabrication, in a setting that emphasizes safety, technical excellence, and innovation in electrical design and construction.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $160000.00/yr.

Full medical, dental, and vision insurance. Ability to contribute to 401k. Hybrid Schedule.
