Bethany School – Intermediate School Teacher (Grades 4–6) Position Overview
Bethany School seeks a full-time Intermediate School Teacher (Grades 4–6) beginning in August 2026. Successful candidates are culturally competent, responsible, caring, and enthusiastic educators who are skilled in both instruction and collaboration.
Intermediate School teachers manage a homeroom of up to 15 students and teach two core subject areas - either mathematics/science or reading/social studies. Teachers work closely with a grade-level partner teacher to ensure alignment of instruction and student support. Intermediate teachers are assigned a mentor teacher in their first year and are supported by the Intermediate School Lead and Assistant Head for Academic Affairs.
Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Intermediate School Teacher will:
- Plan and deliver instruction in two core subject areas (math/science or reading/social studies).
- Collaborate closely with a grade-level partner teacher to ensure alignment and continuity of instruction.
- Manage a homeroom and support student development across academic and social-emotional domains.
- Use data (e.g., STAR, IXL, classroom assessments) to inform instruction and intervention.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Maintain a structured, engaging, and well-managed classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with families regarding student progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and support staff.
- Participate in school meetings, professional development, and school initiatives.
- Uphold and model Bethany School's mission, values, and Episcopal identity.
Qualified candidates will possess or demonstrate the following:
- Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
- Ohio Teacher License required, or Resident Educator License; or Permanent Non-tax certificate
- Experience working with upper elementary students preferred
- Commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to analyze and use student data
- Proficiency in instructional technology
- Professionalism, flexibility, and sound judgment
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development
