Senior Process Engineer

FLEXRACK by Qcells has completed over 3.5 GW of solar racking installations in over 40 U.S. states, 9 Canadian provinces and across the globe.

SUMMARY


The Senior Process Engineer will be a member of our Production team. The Sr. Process Engineer will watch over the entire manufacturing process of tubing production and devise ways that improve the flow and efficiency of production. They ensure maximum efficiency of a company's manufacturing processes and analyze current production methods through observation, data collection and research. They support the equipment design and ensure safety and quality standards are met. They are called upon to identify areas that need improvement to maintain high levels of manufacturing efficiency and product quality in compliance with regulatory standards. This position reports to the Head of Manufacturing, or another management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate. This position is located in North Jackson, OH and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend working hours may be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 5%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Work with global cross functional team to launch new rollforming mills.
  • Manage the commissioning of new equipment within the production facility.
  • Manage the budget, performance expectations and timeline for new equipment launch.
  • Monitor the entire manufacturing process and lead all process improvement initiatives.
  • Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management


Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain & update work instructions as required to produce quality product.
  • Provide internal/external technical support for rolling processes including reviewing and resolving deviations, non-conformances.
  • Support Operations Leadership with data collection, reporting and training.
  • Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Operations, and other support functions to meet productivity and quality expectations.
  • Participate and contribute to the achievement of department goals including goal setting.
  • Facilitate training sessions for all employees on the improvement methodologies, tools, policies, practices, and processes.
  • Identify and solve chronic/repetitive problems and failures as well as reduce process variation.
  • Assist with the development of the Annual Action Plan, and the administration of established policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Prepare and approve standards from CAPEX and improvement initiatives.
  • Implement and coordinate CAPEX projects, and Annual Action Plan Improvement Projects
  • Continuously monitor manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to product specifications/requirements.
  • Equipment troubleshooting and subsequent work order requests.
  • Identify and lead cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) studies.
  • Support staff and material schedules to meet customer requirements.
  • Run studies and validations on the line as needed.
  • Develop, execute, analyze data, and write reports for validation activities.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Resolve technical problems of significant impact to performance, cost or schedule.
  • Develop work plans for continuous improvement and report out to the manger each week.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in the field of Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Firsthand experience in automated cold forming processes with roll forming and welding.
  • Experience with CAD, CNC, AutoCAD, PLM, PLC, Jira, and R Language software and systems.
  • A critical thinker dedicated to solving root cause analysis problems and continuous improvement on the job.
  • Can utilize computer literacy capabilities to assist with tasks.
  • Knowledge of rollingtooling pass design with inline high frequency welding.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 years or more rolling mill experience Lean manufacturing experience Advanced knowledge of production, operations, and materials planning, practices, and processes.

  • Physical Activity: Performing physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
  • Manual Dexterity: The ability to quickly move hands, or hands together with arms, to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects is necessary for controlling machines and handling tools.
  • Vision: Close and distance vision are crucial, along with depth perception and the ability to distinguish colors, for navigating and operating the equipment safetly.
  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: The role requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for periods of time during the shift.
  • Flexibility: Bending, stooping, twisting, and crouching may be required for tasks like inspecting equipment, or navigating tight spaces.
  • Reaching: Using arms to reach for controls and materials is a regular part of the job.

  • Pace: The work environment is often fast-paced, requiring a strong work ethic and the ability to work efficiently and adapt to changing priorities.
