Overview of BLOC:

We are an inner city ministry that lives and works in the neighborhoods we serve. Our mission exists to build relationships with our neighbors and share hope in brokenness. We target neighborhoods that are underserved. We have a staff size of about 80 where we have after school programs, sports performance center, houses for women in sex trafficking, men and women transitional homes, a coffee shops, equine assisted learning, immigrant welcome center, and other forms of ministry to love our neighbors.

Position Summary:

The Director of IDEA & Youth Programs provides spiritual, strategic, and operational leadership for youth initiatives. This role ensures programs align with the organizations mission by supporting students and families academically, emotionally, and spiritually while developing strong staff teams and community partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for Youth Services directors and the Wraparound Afterschool Program.
• Develop program goals and contribute to long-term (35 year) strategic planning.
• Recruit, supervise, mentor, and develop staff, interns, and volunteers.
• Foster a Christ-centered team culture through spiritual leadership, mentorship, and regular team meetings.
• Oversee wraparound supports for students and families, including academic, social-emotional, and family resources.
• Manage program operations including scheduling, safety protocols, documentation, and resources.
• Build and maintain partnerships with schools, churches, community organizations, and local leaders.
• Collaborate with the Director of Operations and participate in staff and BLOC 7 meetings.
• Support fundraising efforts and maintain relationships with donors and community partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Education, Social Work, Child Development, or related field (Masters preferred).
• Experience in youth development, afterschool programs, or family support services.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills.
• Understanding of trauma-informed care and youth development practices.
• Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.
