ROOM SERVICE ASSISTANT

:

Responsible for delivery of Room Service meal trays to patients, including assistance with meal set-up at bedside, delivery and collection of payment for guest trays, providing excellent customer service and sanitation.

• Delivery of Room Service meal trays to patients and guests according to Hospital expectations; with a friendly smile and greeting following an established script, confirms accuracy of meal order, and verifies patient identifiers, noting any special diets and/or isolation protocols.
• Provides timely notification to nursing unit of prepared trays for insulin patients prior to delivering tray to the patient.
• Assists with meal set-up as needed, including moving bedside table within reach. Confirms accuracy of meal order and provides patient with excellent customer service.
• Reports any patient complaints/concerns, safety concerns, or environmental hazards to a FANS Manager.
• Returns soiled tray carts to dish room for proper cleaning and sanitation.
• Follows acceptable practices related to safety, sanitation, infection control, quality control, and customer relations.
• Maintains clean and sanitary conditions in food service areas.
• Follows HACCP principles and complies with hospital and Health Department standards.
• Completes required trainings and attends meetings as required and documents daily, weekly and monthly cleaning assignments.
• Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or needed. May assist in other areas as relief.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Entry level job. Prior Food Delivery and/or Customer Service experience is preferred, but not necessary. Wages are commiserated with applicable experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively and with civility and compassion. Ability to read time and some math involved. Must be able to be on feet for 6-8 hours and walk at an acceptable pace for long periods of time. Must be able to hold a tray of food and drinks with one hand while operating door handles, tray tables, and/or personal effects with other hand.
