PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Dayton, Ohio (45409) – Ohio healthcare jobs
• Unit: SE10 Neuroscience/High-Risk Respiratory Intermediate Care Unit (36 beds)
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens, Travel Nursing Contract
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 09/15/2025 – End: 12/15/2025)
• Shift: Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1950-$2000
• Patient Ratios: 1:4-6
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (any state; compact nursing license accepted)
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent PCU or Stepdown nursing experience (ICU experience does not substitute)
• Experience with 1:5 patient ratios in PCU or Stepdown required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Must pass online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to start
• Ventilator experience required
• IV start experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Available to work every other weekend and holiday
• Willingness to float to other units or campuses as needed

PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver skilled nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with neurological and high-risk respiratory conditions
• Collaborate within a team nursing model alongside RNs, LPNs, and PCTs
• Manage ventilated patients, heated high flow, BiPAPs, and trach/vents
• Perform neuro assessments and care for CVA, TIA, seizures, brain tumors, and complex spinal surgeries
• Initiate and manage IVs, telemetry, cardiac and insulin drips, and wound care
• Float to Neuro ICU and other units as assigned, supporting the clinical nursing team
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC electronic health records
• Adhere to infection control and isolation precautions
• Participate in orientation and complete required training modules
