Associate Director, Channel Strategy - Media (US)

Delaware, OH

Are you ready to shape how customers discover and trust life-changing medicines in an AI-influenced world? In this role, you will connect channels across the US market to create coherent, measurable experiences that move healthcare professionals and patients from discovery to action.

You will work across the channel ecosystem to translate business priorities into clear, connected recommendations that drive impact. Partnering closely with commercial leaders, brand teams, customer experience, analytics, and agencies, you will build scalable frameworks, guide investment decisions, and accelerate customer-centered engagement. Can you see the path from media and web to measurable business outcomes—and make it actionable?

You will join a fast paced, science-driven commercial community where ambition is matched with autonomy. Expect to collaborate across therapy areas, learn from teams bringing breakthrough medicines to market, and help the organization evolve for AI-powered discovery and the next generation of search and content.

Accountabilities:

  • Coordinated Channel Strategy: Support the development of a connected channel strategy across the US market, linking paid, owned, earned, and emerging digital channels to business objectives and brand priorities.

  • Media Planning: Help brands shift from siloed decisions to journey-led planning across key audiences, including healthcare professionals and patients, to increase relevance and performance.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with business collaborators, brand teams, media, web, content, CRM, analytics, customer experience, and agency partners to align channel strategy to portfolio needs and drive coordinated execution.

  • Digital Presence Evolution: Develop recommendations for how our digital footprint should adapt to changing customer behavior, AI-powered discovery, evolving search patterns, and the need for authoritative, well-structured content.

  • Frameworks and Governance: Support the creation of channel strategy frameworks, playbooks, and governance principles that improve consistency, compliance, and scalability across brands and business units.

  • Investment and Prioritization: Contribute analysis and recommendations on channel mix, prioritization, and budget allocation based on customer needs, market dynamics, business goals, and performance insights.

  • Measurement and Optimization: Partner with analytics and marketing sciences to support measurement frameworks, important metric development, and continuous optimization, ensuring channel decisions are evidence-based.

  • Innovation Scouting: Identify and evaluate opportunities across media models, digital experiences, content distribution, personalization, and AI-enabled engagement to unlock growth and efficiency.

  • Program Management: Enable teamwork across internal teams and agencies, providing day-to-day coordination, material development, synthesis of inputs, and progress tracking to keep workstreams on pace and on target.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience in channel strategy, media strategy, paid media, web, CRM, digital customer engagement, or related disciplines.

  • Experience supporting cross-functional strategic initiatives in a complex, matrixed organization.

  • Strong understanding of how channels work together across the customer journey, including media strategy, web strategy, search, content ecosystems, CRM, and digital customer engagement.

  • Experience translating business and customer needs into clear recommendations and actionable plans.

  • Experience with measurement and performance evaluation, including KPI development and use of data to guide decisions.

  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in a regulated industry, preferably healthcare, life sciences, or pharmaceuticals.

  • Understanding of US healthcare marketing, including HCP and patient engagement in a compliant environment.

  • Understanding of AI-enabled discovery, evolving search behaviors, and the role of authoritative content in visibility and trust.

  • Familiarity with paid, owned, and earned channel planning.

  • Experience working with agencies, analytics partners, and cross-functional commercial teams.

  • Knowledge of digital analytics, media measurement, web performance, dashboarding, and strategic planning tools and approaches.

When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines. In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That's why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. But that doesn't mean we're not flexible. We balance the expectation of being in the office while respecting individual flexibility. Join us in our unique and daring world.

Why AstraZeneca:

This is where scientific rigor meets commercial craft to deliver medicines that change lives. You will work at pace with colleagues across therapy areas, sharing insights as new treatments approach launch, and translating those insights into customer experiences that matter. We bring marketers, data scientists, technologists, and medical experts into the same room to solve real problems across the patient journey—from awareness to adherence—supported by a culture that encourages autonomy, experimentation, and learning. Here you will build capabilities that set you up for leadership, while seeing your work shape how patients and healthcare professionals discover, trust, and benefit from our innovations.
