Salary Range: $24.00 per hour + uncapped bonus



NOTE: The hourly rate is a fixed entry rate for this position and applies to all new hires. While our system may display a pay range, this role’s starting rate is non-negotiable. Future pay increases are determined by performance, growth, and time in role, in accordance with our compensation policy.


Joining a new Wayfair store launch means being part of something special from Day 1. During the first several weeks, you will work alongside the team to help set up, organize, and prepare the store for opening, which will look different from your long term day to day responsibilities. This hands on, team first experience helps bring our store to life and sets us up for success once we open our doors to the community and our customers.



Overview:
As a Mattress Sales Professional , you’ll help customers discover better sleep through expert guidance, genuine connection, and a best-in-class shopping experience. Focused on mattresses, beds, utility bedding, and bedroom furniture, you’ll combine product knowledge with consultative selling to turn questions into confident purchases. Reporting into the Retail Sales team, this role is perfect for someone who loves performance-driven environments, thrives on learning, and takes pride in helping customers make one of the most important home decisions they’ll ever make.


What Does a Mattress Sales Specialist Do?

  • ️ Customer-Centered Selling: Engage customers in meaningful conversations to understand their needs, recommend the right sleep solutions, and guide them to confident purchase decisions.

  • Performance Excellence: Consistently meet or exceed an average sales per hour (SPH) goal of $400 while achieving monthly revenue targets, daily goals, and key performance indicators in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.

  • Product Expertise: Build and maintain deep knowledge across mattresses, bedding, beds, and bedroom furniture to clearly explain features, benefits, and value.

  • Continuous Learning: Participate in ongoing training to stay current on products, supplier offerings, promotions, and sales processes that support your success.

  • Process Improvement Instincts: Share ideas, insights, and feedback to help improve customer experiences, sales strategies, and team effectiveness.

    • Adaptability in Action: Thrive in a dynamic retail environment where products, promotions, tools, and processes evolve quickly.
  • ? Brand Representation: Deliver a consistently positive, professional, and welcoming Wayfair experience for every customer and teammate interaction.

  • Operate as “One Team”: You will support Wayfair’s total store goals by cross-training across key store functions, including sales and back-of-house operations. You'll flex where needed to support customers, teammates, store needs and peak business periods.

You’ll Thrive in This Role if You Have:

  • Relevant Sales Experience: 1–3 years of success in a fast-paced, customer-facing, metrics-driven sales role (retail, home, or mattress sales highly preferred).

  • Tech Comfort: Willingness to learn and use new systems and tools to support sales and service.

  • Home Passion (Bonus): Genuine interest in home, furniture, and sleep products is a plus.

Additional Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling.

  • ? Mobility & Movement: Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day.

  • Lifting Ability: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis. Some projects may involve heavier items, which must be managed with proper assistance or equipment.

  • Vision Requirements: Includes close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • ️ Temperature Flexibility: Comfortable in environments with varying temperature conditions.

  • Noise Tolerance: Occasional exposure to moderate noise levels and physical activity.

    • ️ Safety Awareness: Minimal exposure to workplace or environmental hazards—must adhere to all safety protocols.
