Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12.5 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in an emergency or critical care setting preferred. License: Current RN license in the state of practice. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required. Must-Have: - Previous travel experience. - Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and preferred TNCC. Description: The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate, and efficient care to patients in a fast-paced, dynamic emergency department setting. The ED RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to provide critical patient assessments. The role ensures optimal outcomes while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality. Key responsibilities include performing initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical and emotional health. The ED RN administers medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed. Monitoring and documenting patient responses to care and adjusting plans as necessary is essential. Education to patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care is a priority. The ED RN triages patients effectively to prioritize care based on the severity of illness or injury. Assisting in resuscitation, stabilization, and advanced life support procedures during emergencies is required. Operating and maintaining emergency equipment, including defibrillators, monitors, and ventilators, is part of the role. Collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members is crucial to coordinate care. Effective communication of patient status, changes, and care plans to team members and families is necessary. Participation in interdisciplinary rounds and case discussions is expected. Adherence to established protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements is mandatory. Accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR) must be maintained. Promoting and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff by following infection control and safety protocols is essential. Participation in continuing education and training programs to stay current with best practices is encouraged. The ED RN contributes to quality improvement initiatives and emergency department performance metrics. Working conditions involve a fast-paced environment requiring physical stamina and emotional resilience. Frequent standing, walking, and lifting of patients or equipment is necessary.
