Deputy Auditor, Clerk Fiscal Department

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Deputy BudgetClerk. As a Deputy Budget Clerk, you will provide administrative support and assist with various duties within our organization. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in working in a government setting and gaining valuable experience in financial concepts and accounting.

Duties:
- Assist with processing financial transactions and maintaining accurate records
- Perform general ledger accounting tasks, including reconciliations and journal entries
- Prepare financial reports and assist with regulatory reporting requirements
- Utilize accounting software to input and track financial data
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
-Review submitted tax budgets of all taxing districts within the county.

-Checks that the tax levies collected are properly authorized by voters or resolutions, and that the funds are properly collected.

-Prepare regular reports for the Budget Commission and maintain accurate records of all proceedings.

Requirements:
- Strong understanding of financial concepts and governmental accounting principles
- Proficiency in general ledger accounting
- Experience working with accounting software systems
- Knowledge of public accounting practices is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and decision-making
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Please note that this is not an entry-level position. Prior experience in a similar role or field is required. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or a closely related field preferred, and two (2) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education and responsible experience.

Such Deputy Auditor position(s) being a fiduciary position under O.R.C. section 124.11, unclassified service.
