Property Maintenance Official
Salary Range: $400/month - $800/month
General Description:
To administer and ensure compliance of the Village's Property Maintenance Codes (PMC) as described in the latest edition of the Codes. Appointed by the Mayor with the approval of Village Council. Under the direct supervision of the Mayor.
Work Schedule:
This is considered to be a part-time position. There is not an established work schedule for this position; however, the PMC Official shall work as many hours as necessary to complete required tasks.
Work Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position shall include, but not be limited to, the following duties. The following duties are intended to depict some, but not all, of the typical tasks required by this position. This position may require additional tasks as instructed by the direct supervisor.
- Inspect, evaluate and render decisions of compliance to established Property Maintenance Codes (PMC).
- Investigate, respond and resolve complaints from citizens involving potential or possible PMC
- Issue Notices of Violation communications and enforce adherence for those property owners who are in violation of the PMC.
- Verify the correction and/or remediation of each violation notice issued.
- Maintain orderly records and files of correspondence pertaining to the PMC.
- Attend Planning Commission meetings (typically the first Tuesday of each month).
- Work with Planning Commission and the Mayor, on PMC complaints and violations.
Normal Employment Standards:
High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate. Two (2) years experience in a related field is preferred, but not necessary.
Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Ability to work well with the general public. Ability to recognize and solve problems and be confident with your decision making process. Must possess good record keeping and organizational skills. Ability to utilize all necessary computer software required to perform routine correspondence, including but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet.
Other abilities and skills include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct inspections and investigations of the PMC and prepare detailed and accurate records resulting from inspections.
- Ability to work independently.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Village personnel, the general public and to present yourself in a tactful and diplomatic manner.
- Possess good communications skills; both verbal and written.
Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid driver's license, issued by the State of Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
