The Distribution Field Technician will report daily to the Kettering, OH office, where they will be responsible for inspecting overhead and underground electrical distribution equipment, compiling field data, preparing minor work orders, and maintaining reports of distribution equipment. This role requires measuring and mapping Low Voltage Distribution systems, identifying and recording electrical equipment on poles, and performing various field technical services related to the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
Responsibilities

Conduct visual inspections of overhead and underground electrical distribution equipment.

Compile field data, prepare minor work orders, and maintain detailed reports.

Measure and map Low Voltage Distribution systems.

Identify and record electrical equipment on poles.

Perform system inventories, audits, joint use management, permitting, pad-mount inspections, ground-line pole inspections, metering and apparatus services, lighting audits, and more.

Utilize laptops, tablets, GPS, and other electronic devices for field data collection.

Develop a working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code, electric utility construction standards, and communication facilities.

Operate equipment like height sticks and range finders to take accurate measurements.

Perform pole inspections and maintenance on pad-mount equipment.

Achieve weekly billable goals as defined by project guidelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Prefer candidates aged 21+ to meet company vehicle driving requirements; 20+ may be acceptable.

Experience in physically demanding roles such as manual labor, construction, utility locating, landscaping, manufacturing, and warehouse/cold storage.

Open to Associate Technology Degrees if work experience aligns with the required criteria.
Work Environment
The technician is required to report to the Grand Rapids office daily. Upon arrival, they will be assigned to another person who will drive them to the day's location for data collection. Most work occurs within an hour from the office. The position offers flexibility to work either four 10-hour days or five 10-hour days. The role provides a less physically demanding alternative to other physically intensive jobs, with better hours and outdoor work focused on visual inspections and data collection.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
