Treatment Plant Aide

Assists in the operation and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater treatment systems, including monitoring processes, performing chemical testing, collecting samples, and supporting equipment installation and repairs. Handles routine maintenance, cleaning, and grounds duties while working rotating shifts and responding to emergency callbacks as needed.

Key Responsibilities

· Treatment Plant Aide assists with the operation of water distribution system and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant facilities.

· Responsible to assist with water and wastewater and sewage plant operations which include, but are not limited to: backwashing filters; regenerate softeners; set blow-down controls; clean diffuses, comminutors, trickling filters and bar screens; adjust air flow and raw water flow; disinfection; solid handling; maintain lagoons; and reading water meters.

· Responsible to perform daily chemical tests on water and sewage plant effluent to include alkalinity, PH, dissolved oxygen and turbidity.

· Monitor and assist with the installation of piping, valve stems, belts and fittings.

· Set up, collect and deliver water samples on a daily basis; send samples to the state lab for analysis.

· Perform basic electrical, plumbing and construction repairs; grounds and housekeeping duties as needed.

· Work schedule will be shifts, which can be day, afternoon or night shift. Subject to 24-hour call-back/stand-by to perform emergency maintenance and repair after normal working hours, on nights, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or G.E.D., and a minimum of one (1) year of maintenance or mechanical equipment experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Possession of a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
