Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)
Responsibilities
- Level 1 Nursery*
- Postpartum care
- Heparin*
- Insulin drips*
- Antihypertensives
- Magnesium sulfate therapy
- Pitocin (oxytocin)
- Telemetry interpretation
- Administration of blood & blood products
- Starting and maintaining IVs
- Cord care
- Discharge teaching to parents
- Infant identification
- IV antibiotics
- Metabolic screening
- Neonatal abstinence syndrome
- Newborn assessment
- Phototherapy
- Teaching circumcision care to parents
- Thermoregulation
- Newborn hypoglycemia
- Care for LGA and low‑birth‑weight infants
- Opioid pain management
- Pain assessment & management
- Bladder assessment/Foley insertion
- Breastfeeding instruction
- Couplet care
- Episiotomy/incision care
- Fundus/lochia/perineum care
- Use of electric/manual breast pump
- Vaginal & Cesarean section postpartum care
- Multiple births
- Postpartum hemorrhage
- Pregnancy‑induced hypertension
- Vaccine administration
Requirements & Experience
- Minimum 2 years postpartum experience
- BLS/IV certification
- IV start skills
- Labor & Delivery experience
- EPIC experience
- Required to float to MSC (antepartum team nursing) and other OSU units
- Ratios 1:3–4 dyads (6–8 pts)
- Telemetry interpretation exam required prior to start
- Weekend coverage every other weekend
- Up to 2 pre-approved PTO requests
