PCU Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Ohio nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: PCU Float Pool (Step-down/PCU-type patients)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens, Travel Registered Nurse
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: January 5, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:00 - 19:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1940 - $1990
• Patient Ratios: 1:3-4
• Weekend Coverage: Required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or step-down RN experience (Progressive Care Unit experience required)
• Active RN license (compact nursing license or Ohio RN license required at submission)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records (EHR) charting
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Two professional references required (at least one from a manager, director, or formal leadership)
• Former employees eligible if separated for 6+ months; current employees not eligible

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in step-down and PCU settings
• Float between various PCU and step-down units, adapting to diverse patient populations and acuity levels
• Perform IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and manage arterial/central lines
• Administer blood products, cardiac drips (no titration), and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Manage dysrhythmias, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive airway management
• Care for patients with feeding tubes, tracheostomies, and post-neurosurgery needs
• Utilize Epic EHR for accurate documentation and charting
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response
• Participate in wound care, procedural sedation, and rapid response as needed
