About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 16 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 Years of Experience Required License: Valid Nursing License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Special Procedures/Unit details - Chemotherapy - Blood transfusions - IV Antibiotics - Oncologic emergencies - Insulin drips - Heparin drips - Chest tube care - Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls Description: This is a busy surgical oncology unit that cares for both progressive care and medical-surgical patients. The staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but can be 1:5 depending on the unit's needs. Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit requirements. There is no set or blocked scheduling available. Candidates accepting a rotating contract may work days, nights, or a combination based on department needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every four weeks but are subject to change based on staffing priorities. Self-scheduling requests are encouraged to accommodate preferences. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics with various diagnoses, including breast, thyroid, melanoma, and colorectal cancers. The unit provides multidisciplinary support from various healthcare specialties. Experience in progressive care settings is required. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in monitoring and managing patients with complex healthcare needs.
