Job Summary:

The Food Service Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals for patients, staff, and visitors at the healthcare clinic. This role ensures food is prepared in accordance with dietary guidelines, sanitation regulations, and clinic standards, while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook meals based on clinic-approved menus, recipes, and individual dietary requirements (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, allergies).

• Follow proper portion control and food presentation standards.

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.

• Ensure all food is stored, handled, and prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations.

• Collaborate with dietary staff to meet patient dietary needs and preferences.

• Record food temperatures and adhere to food safety protocols (e.g., HACCP, ServSafe).

• Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food and supply inventory.

• Monitor supply levels and report shortages to supervisor.

• Dispose of waste properly and follow infection control practices.

• Maintain respectful and professional communication with patients and clinical staff.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.

• Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food allergies is preferred.

• ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including recipes and safety procedures.

• Excellent time management and organizational skills.

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and as part of a team.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
