Position Overview:
Under the general direction of the Financial Accounting Manager, the Property Accounting Seasonal Associate will be responsible for completing sound financial analysis, balance sheet account reconciliation, and preparing regular reports and tasks based on organizational objectives. The Property Accounting Seasonal Associate may provide backup in the absence of other Accounting staff. As such, you will be expected to act as a Redwood brand ambassador, promote our brand and provide the best resident experience possible. All Redwood employees are expected to conduct all organizational business and practices in accordance with Redwood company policies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for month end closing activities specific to a portfolio of properties
• Prepare year-end audit and tax return preparation packages for review by Director of Financial Accounting or Financial Accounting Manager prior to submission to external accountants
• Review tax returns received from external accountants and assist with other year end related tasks as determined by Director of Financial Accounting or Financial Accounting Manager
• Participates in accounting department meetings via telephone or in person
• All other related duties, as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related degree required. An Accounting degree is preferred.
• In lieu of a degree, 3 years of accounting experience required
• General computer proficiency
• Strong skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:

• Accounting degree
• Accounting internship experience preferred
• Knowledge of Yardi preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to use standard office equipment such as computers, desk phones, cell phones, photocopiers, etc.
• Must be able to navigate stairs occasionally, particularly in the event of elevator outages or during emergency situations.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, stand, bend, and walk with the ability to lift 30 pounds occasionally.

Attendance and Scheduling:

• Punctuality and consistent attendance are essential for success in this role, and employees must adhere to set start times and assigned schedules.
• Occasional travel may be required for team outings, training sessions, or company-sponsored events, estimated at less than 5% annually.

Work Environment:

• Job is performed in a professional office environment.
• Exposure to varying indoor temperatures depending on location in the building and season.
• Combination of natural daylight and standard office lighting throughout the workspace.
• Movement across multiple flooring types, including tile, carpet, and other transitions.
• An open workspace layout, defined by a shared space without traditional enclosed offices or high-walled cubicles, may introduce distractions or reduce privacy.
• Possibility of shared desk spaces.
