Executive Director, Healthcare Facilities Operations

We are seeking an experienced Executive Director, Facilities Operations to provide strategic leadership for a large ambulatory healthcare facilities portfolio across Northeast Ohio. This executive role will oversee facilities management services supporting 300+ outpatient and ambulatory care locations , ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and exceptional service delivery.

The ideal candidate brings deep healthcare facilities leadership experience, enterprise-scale portfolio management expertise, and a proven ability to partner with executive stakeholders to support organizational growth and patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead facilities operations across a large multi-site healthcare network.
• Develop and execute scalable facilities management strategies for outpatient and ambulatory care locations.
• Oversee maintenance operations, engineering services, asset management, vendor management, and contracted services.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulatory, accreditation, environmental, and life-safety standards, including Joint Commission, CMS, and NFPA requirements.
• Drive operational standardization, continuous improvement, and service excellence across all locations.
• Manage large operating and capital budgets, forecasting, resource planning, and performance metrics.
• Oversee construction, renovation, and facility improvement initiatives.
• Lead large, multi-layered facilities teams and support workforce engagement, development, and retention.
• Partner with health system executives, physicians, administrators, and operational leaders to align facilities services with business and patient care objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 7 years of management experience with direct people leadership responsibility.
• Minimum 7 years of facilities management, engineering, or business operations services experience involving both hard and soft facilities services.
• Experience leading facilities operations within healthcare environments.
• Demonstrated success managing large multi-site facilities portfolios.
• Experience overseeing large teams, multiple management layers, and significant FTE populations.
• Strong financial management experience, including operating budgets, forecasting, and resource planning.
• Proven ability to partner with executive leadership and drive strategic initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting hospital systems, ambulatory care networks, academic medical centers, or regional healthcare systems.
• Experience managing enterprise-level facilities programs supporting 100+ locations.
• Background in healthcare engineering, facilities compliance, construction management, or integrated facilities services.
