Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller to join our dynamic finance team. This pivotal role involves overseeing comprehensive accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting financial management activities .
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls, contributing to the organization’s fiscal integrity and strategic growth.
This position offers an opportunity to lead complex financial processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and support organizational objectives through expert financial analysis and management.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full spectrum of accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliation, and journal entries using accounting software such as NETSUITE
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining accurate records.
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and regulatory filings in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations regularly to verify account accuracy and identify discrepancies for prompt resolution.
- Research, code, and enter vendor invoices into the accounting system
· Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payments
· Entering Payables
· Investigate and resolve internal and external billing issues
· Process payments to vendors and employees
· Enter financial adjustments into the accounting system
· Track and manage expenses
· Prepare and issue client invoices
- Implement best practices for cash management, payroll processing, and account reconciliation procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations affecting non-profit and governmental accounting environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.
- REQUIRED:
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in accounting roles within public accounting firms or corporate finance departments.
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, or in lieu of degree, will consider experience
· Experience in accounting, billing, or accounts receivable
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Experience with NetSuite is a plus and highly preferred
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Demonstrated experience with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
- Experience managing accounts payable/receivable cycles, bank reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Knowledge of budgeting processes, financial analysis techniques, and forecasting methodologies.
- Excellent analytical skills complemented by a solid grasp of financial concepts such as debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation.
