Front desk receptionist
Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and compassionate individual to join our ophthalmology practice as a Front Desk Receptionist. This entry-level role is ideal for someone looking to begin a career in healthcare administration and patient services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment.
- Check patients in and out for ophthalmology and optometry appointments.
- Schedule appointments and manage provider calendars, including surgical and diagnostic testing schedules.
- Answer incoming calls, route messages appropriately, and provide clear information regarding office policies.
- Verify medical insurance and vision plan eligibility; collect co-pays and balances.
- Assist patients with completing forms, including medical history and consent forms.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform filing, scanning, and data entry into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Prepare and organize charts, referrals, and testing documentation as needed.
- Prepare medical records as needed.
- Keep the front desk and waiting area clean, organized, and patient-ready.
- Special projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Friendly, professional demeanor with a patient-first attitude.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience in a medical office is helpful but not required.
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes is helpful but not required.
