Traveling Construction Safety Professional

Job Description

The Safety Professional will provide onsite safety leadership and support across multiple active construction projects. This individual will be responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with company and OSHA safety standards, and proactively identifying and mitigating jobsite risks.

Responsibilities

• Promote a strong, proactive safety culture across all assigned projects.

• Ensure contractor activities are properly pre-planned for safety through scope reviews, pre-task planning, and JHA reviews.

• Verify subcontractor compliance with project-specific safety plans and requirements.

• Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, and observations.

• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, and complete required documentation.

• Provide safety training to project teams and subcontractors.

• Maintain accurate safety documentation and reports.

• Make recommendations to address unsafe conditions or behaviors.

Essential Skills

• 3-5 years of onsite construction safety experience.

• Experience supporting large-scale construction projects (must be $100M-$150M if limited to single projects).

• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety plans, and jobsite safety protocols.

• Ability to conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.

• Strong communication skills to work with field teams, subcontractors, and leadership.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Safety certifications such as OSHA 30, CSP, CHST, or similar.

• Experience in K-12, higher education, and healthcare projects.

• Degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) or related field.

Work Environment

This is a 100% onsite construction role with typical workdays of 8-10 hours, starting between 6:30-7:30 AM, averaging 40 hours per week. Saturdays may be required based on project demands. The role reports directly to the Safety Manager and works alongside two other Safety Professionals. Mileage reimbursement is provided at the federal rate when traveling more than 60 miles round trip per day.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.10 - $72.20/hr.
