Part-Time | 12--16 Hours per Week

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated individual to serve as a Breastfeeding Peer Helper supporting WIC families. This position provides encouragement, education, and basic breastfeeding support to pregnant and breastfeeding WIC participants. Support is provided by telephone, in the clinic setting, and occasionally through home or hospital visits. Some evening or weekend availability may be required.

Compensation & Benefits

• $16.00 per hour

• Eligible for a 4.5% raise after successful completion of a 180-day probationary period

Minimum Qualifications

• Personal breastfeeding experience (must have breastfed/provided breast milk to at least one baby for a minimum of six months)
• Ability to relate to and support WIC families
• Familiarity with WIC; current or former WIC participant preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Valid Ohio driver's license with ongoing proof of automobile insurance
• Proficiency in computer use and general office equipment

Responsibilities

• Complete the required FNS WIC Breastfeeding Curriculum (Levels 1 & 2)
• Maintain a caseload of WIC families
• Provide basic breastfeeding education and encouragement
• Support families in preventing and managing common breastfeeding concerns
• Make referrals to IBCLC/CLC according to clinic-established protocols
• Accurately document all participant contacts
• Assist with prenatal classes and breastfeeding support groups
• Attend staff meetings and continuing education sessions
