Job Description

Our client, in Hebron, is seeking a Maintenance Helper to join their team!

This position is responsible for providing assistance to maintenance personnel/management including, but not limited to, special projects and preventative maintenance activities. They are responsible for providing maintenance assistance to all production and support equipment under limited supervision to produce high quality precision products. This position trains on day shift and then transfers to 2nd/3rd shift.

Responsibilities

Instruction – Support and follow all company policies and procedures; as well as follow the instructions provided by direct leadership members (including other duties as assigned).

Work Area – Maintain a neat and orderly working environment to ensure safety of each member and efficiency of production.

Operations – Attain a thorough working knowledge of the operations by following the instructions provided by the Maintenance Technician and other members as needed.

Measuring Instrument Use – Uses instruments in the repair and preventative maintenance of equipment as necessary.

Handling and Transport – Safely assist maintenance personnel in removal, transport, and reinstall of machine parts on machines being repaired when necessary; involves handling parts by hand, by multiple members, by forklift, aerial lift, machine dollies, or by hoist. For safe handling, carefully remove and transport machine parts with non-defective equipment.

Preventive Maintenance – Will provide preventive maintenance to machines such as replacement, cleaning and minor repairs of equipment as needed.

Troubleshooting – When necessary assist maintenance personnel in troubleshooting repair of machine breakdowns. Post-process – Whenever necessary, reports the causes of breakdowns and recommends countermeasures to prevent recurrence.

Machine Setup and Special Projects – Assist in set ups and special projects for production equipment including limited fabrication, use of welding equipment or tools in machine shop to support manufacturing processes.

Reporting and Records – Report all problems to maintenance personnel and/or management, pass pertinent information on to next shift, generate performance reports and notes, determine/record all spare replacement parts for manufacturing equipment to improve equipment uptime, generate/implement preventative maintenance procedures, record work performed on necessary documents.

Training – When assigned by supervisor, will train on how to perform duties. Also, attend various classes as instructed by the Manager.

Requirements

New hires must have the aptitude to acquire the basic skills required for this position within the 3-month initial period; ability to identify component pieces used in the manufacturing process; working knowledge of documentation (such as drawings and operation sheets, etc.). Aptitude for measuring (taking readings, making calculations and keeping records). Basic knowledge of mechanical, electronic, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Basic knowledge of machine shop equipment such as lathes, mills, presses, shear and welding equipment. Ability to follow instructions and procedures and lift 75 lbs. Some knowledge of assembly processes. Excellent communication skills. Must be willing to acquire the following skills: pump repair, motor repair, 24/120/240 volt wiring practices, DC wattage wiring practices, photo eye/proximity switch set-up and operation, lock-out/tag-out and other safety procedures, compressed air procedures, and preventative maintenance procedures.

Education:

ASET or ASMET degree or education/experience equivalent beyond High School Diploma or GED preferred.
