Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) — Federal Construction
We are looking for a construction safety advisor for an immediate hire based on qualifications to join our well-established team. The site location is Iron Mountain, MI .
We need someone who can create our safety management system and establish policies and procedures that comply with all safety regulations. This role requires on-site full-time, every day, and availability for early starts, shutdowns, and occasional off-hours work. Applicant will also ensure safety standards are maintained and documented, and issues are resolved according to safety guidelines.

Compensation:$90,000 - $110,000
Responsibilities:- Administer corrective action recommendations and safety reprimands when safety concerns are present
- Communicate with construction managers and project managers to make sure all potential risk management and safety issues are addressed
- Ensure personal protective equipment is available and used correctly
- Lead construction health and safety training programs, including new hire safety orientation
- Lead incident and injury evaluations and investigate job-site safety reports
- CPR certifications required for this position
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction industry as a safety officer, safety consultant, or in risk management/ safety management
- Certification in OSHA 30 is required and OSHA 500/510 is preferable
- Ability to work independently and excellent project management, interpersonal, and communication skills are needed
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, EHS/HSE, or related field is valuable
- 5+ years of experience with construction safety management, preferred
- Under 5 years of experience, need to have 3+ years of construction safety management AND be CSP or CSHT, and/or have a Safety & Health degree from an Accredited university or college
- Must have OSHA 30 before start date
