Position Overview: Director of Marketing and Advancement Full-Time | Senior Leadership Role Reports to: Executive Director Department: Advancement Compensation: $110,000-$125,000 annual salary About the Maltz Museum The Maltz Museum is a dynamic cultural institution dedicated to celebrating heritage, advancing inclusion, and sparking dialogue across diverse communities. Through compelling exhibitions, public programs, and educational initiatives, the Museum tells powerful stories that matter—locally and globally. We are seeking a Director of Marketing and Advancement who is passionate about brand-building and storytelling and has a well-developed fundraising skillset. This leader will shape how the Museum is experienced, supported, and remembered. The Role As a core member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Marketing and Advancement will lead an integrated advancement strategy that unites marketing, communications, and fundraising under one cohesive vision. This role is ideal for a strategic marketer and relationship-builder who understands how strong messaging, audience engagement, and donor experience drive sustainable growth. You will oversee a talented advancement team, collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Board, and ensure the Museum’s mission is clearly, consistently, and compellingly communicated across all channels. Key Responsibilities Brand, Marketing & Communications Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that increases visibility, attendance, membership, and philanthropic support.
  • Serve as the steward of the Museum’s brand, ensuring consistent, high-quality messaging across digital platforms, social media, print materials, advertising, and media relations.
  • Lead storytelling efforts that translate the Museum’s mission, programs, and impact into compelling narratives for donors, members, visitors, and the broader community.
  • Cultivate media relationships and act as a key spokesperson and ambassador for the Museum.
  • Partner with programmatic and curatorial teams to launch engaging campaigns that elevate exhibitions and public programs.
Fundraising & Advancement Strategy
  • Design and lead a multi-channel fundraising strategy that integrates marketing, donor engagement, and communications.
  • Strengthen donor journeys through thoughtful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship experiences.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Board of Trustees, and Development Committee to expand philanthropic support and launch major initiatives, including capital and endowment campaigns.
  • Ensure strong CRM systems, donor recognition practices, and data-driven reporting.
Leadership & Performance Management
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team across development, marketing, and communications.
  • Align advancement goals with institutional priorities through cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Manage budgets strategically, ensuring effective use of resources and strong ROI.
  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics to guide strategy, measure success, and continuously optimize results.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or professional certification(s) preferred.
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in advancement, marketing, communications, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in building brands, increasing audience engagement, and leading integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Proven ability to secure significant gifts and lead successful fundraising initiatives.
  • Data-informed strategist with strong creative instincts and excellent project management skills.
  • Exceptional communicator who can translate mission into messages that inspire action.
  • Deep appreciation for cultural institutions and a strong commitment to inclusion, education, and community impact.
