Psychiatric RN Job Details

• Location: Akron, Ohio (44304) – Northeast Ohio healthcare jobs
• Facility: 14-bed inpatient detox unit (voluntary admissions for opiate, benzodiazepine, and alcohol detox)
• Position Type: Locum tenens / travel nursing contract
• Start Date: October 5, 2025
• End Date: January 3, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1910–$1960 per week
• Patient Ratio: 1:5/7

Psychiatric Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with Nursys verification – Ohio nursing jobs preferred
• ASN or BSN degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• CPI Blue Card from Crisis Prevention Institute (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in detox, behavioral health, or psychiatric nursing
• Recent Epic EMR experience (within the last 12 months)
• Ability to float to Behavioral Health (Psych) and Med/Surg units as needed
• Must be available to work every other weekend
• Proficient in blood draws and IV management
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed during contract

Psychiatric RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients detoxing from opiates, benzodiazepines, and alcohol
• Monitor and assess patient status, responding promptly to changes in condition
• Perform blood draws and manage intravenous lines as needed
• Collaborate with addiction medicine physicians, social workers, and the healthcare team for patient assessment and discharge planning
• Float to Behavioral Health (Psych) and Med/Surg units to provide clinical support as required
• Assist patients with daily living activities and respond to call lights
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic EMR
• Participate in interviews and competency exams during onboarding
