Job Summary:

The Health and Beauty/General Merchandise Clerk reports to the Grocery Manager and is responsible for making sure the Health and Beauty and general merchandise areas of the store are well stocked and organized for our customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Orders product for the department from several vendors
• Stocks, rotates, and fronts product weekly, checking for outdated items and keeping shelves clean
• Tracks price changes and submits to Pricing Coordinator
• Monitors sales, discontinuing slow products and adding new products when appropriate
• Assists in endcap planning
• Assists with incoming deliveries including unloading pallets and breaking down boxes
• Provides excellent customer service when answering customer questions
• Maintains a clean, safe department free of hazards
• Answers phone calls from customers and provides requested information regarding products and availability
• Performs other duties as assigned by Grocery Manager

Schedule:

The typical schedule for this position is daytime hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Moderate computer skills, including email, Excel, Word, and online ordering systems
• Great multitasking, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
• Comfortable working with the public and greeting, speaking with, and assisting customers
• Attention to detail, ensuring duties are completed correctly and on time
• Merchandizing skills including the ability to read planograms
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays

Education and Experience:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma required, college education preferred
• Retail and ordering experience, highly preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, lifting, twisting, bending, and reaching
• Must be able to lift 5-20 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 40 pounds
