ICU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Columbus, Ohio (ZIP 43210) – Ohio healthcare jobs
• Facility: Magnet-designated comprehensive cancer center
• Setting: Critical Care ICU Float / Rapid Response Team
• Assignment Length: 13-16 weeks (Preferred end dates: 1/10, 1/17, or 1/24)
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Start Date: 10/6/2025
• End Date: 1/26/2026
• Patient Population: Adults, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, Adolescents
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1940–$1990

ICU RN Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of unit-based permanent ICU nursing experience (travel experience not included)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Ohio state or compact license required at submission
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, CCRN or OCN
• Experience with rapid response team highly preferred
• Trauma Level I and II ICU experience required
• EPIC electronic health record proficiency required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Two professional references (one from manager/director or formal leadership; one may be a Charge RN)

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Float between MICU, SICU, NCCU, PCU, and Med-Surg units as needed
• Deliver direct patient care for all ICU admissions, including oncology and critical care patients
• Serve as a key member of the Rapid Response Team: proactive rounding, emergency response (code blue, ERT, Med assist), stroke code activation, IO placement, and patient transport to higher levels of care
• Utilize deterioration index tools to assess and monitor declining patients
• Perform advanced procedures: arterial line management, chest tube assistance, ventilator management, central/PICC line care, blood product and chemotherapy administration, wound care, and more
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and unit secretary
• Maintain infection prevention and isolation protocols
• Accurately document patient care using EPIC EHR system
