Director
FUMC Childcare Center is seeking a compassionate, organized, mission‑driven Director
to lead our licensed early childhood program. Rooted in our commitment to partner with
parents and provide a caring, Christian environment, the Director ensures that
children—from infants to Pre‑K—thrive socially, emotionally, spiritually, and in their early
learning. This role provides steady leadership in daily operations, staff support, family
engagement, and licensing compliance while fostering a warm, welcoming atmosphere
for all.
Key Responsibilities
Program Operations
● Lead daily operations to ensure a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate
program.
● Maintain required staff‑to‑child ratios and support classroom supervision.
● Ensure Center areas are prepared, organized, and aligned with program needs.
Licensing Compliance
● Ensure full compliance with all State licensing rules and requirements.
● Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting in accordance with
State regulations.
● Prepare for and participate in all licensing inspections and audits.
Staff Leadership
● Recruit, hire, train, and mentor teaching and support staff.
● Foster a positive, collaborative team culture rooted in professionalism and
respect.
● Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to ensure high‑quality care.
Family and Community Relationships
● Oversee and manage the enrollment of children, ensuring a smooth and
welcoming process for families.
● Communicate clearly and compassionately with families, addressing needs
professionally and building strong, supportive partnerships.
Administration and Finance
● Manage scheduling, record‑keeping, reporting, and other administrative tasks.
● Oversee budgeting, purchasing, and financial record management.
● Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Communication and Collaboration
● Communicate Center priorities and updates clearly to staff, families, and the
Board of Directors.
● Partner with Center leadership and the governing board to ensure alignment in
policies, goals, and program direction.
● Support a warm, mission‑aligned culture rooted in the values of the Center and
FUMC.
Schedule and Compensation
This is a full‑time, on‑site position. Compensation will be discussed during the interview
process.
Required Qualifications
● Meets all State of Ohio licensing requirements for a Childcare Center Director,
including relevant education, experience, and credentials.
● Demonstrated experience in early childhood education and staff leadership.
● Strong communication, organizational, and relationship‑building skills.
● Ability to build positive, supportive partnerships with families.
Preferred Qualifications
● Ohio administrator credential (ODJFS‑approved).
● ODE license for teaching in a preschool setting.
● Experience with budgeting, record‑keeping, and other administrative tasks.
● Current designation under career pathways level two (2) or higher.
● Ability to meet the physical demands of a childcare environment, including lifting
up to 40 lbs.
