Role Overview
The Design Consultant is responsible for closing sales, managing customer relationships, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the home improvement project process. This role involves performing inspections, working with insurance adjusters, securing contracts, and handling the necessary documentation to move projects forward. The Design Consultant drives business by running company-generated leads and creating new opportunities through referrals.

Responsibilities
- Manage company-provided leads and maintain relationships with the customer base.
- Conduct inspections, including photo documentation and measurement collection.
- Guide customers through the insurance claims process when applicable.
- Prepare detailed and customized estimates and proposals.
- Secure signed contracts and collect required down payments.
- Coordinate supplements and upgrades with the operations team for approval.
- Maintain ongoing communication with customers, providing updates every three days.
- Perform follow-ups after job completion, request referrals, and gather online reviews.
- Enter all leads, updates, and sales activity into the CRM.
- Collaborate with the sales manager and teammates to achieve sales targets.
- Attends Sales Meetings and 1on1s with Sales Manager
Requirements
- 2–3 years of sales experience, preferably in in-home sales.
- Ability to lift 45–85 pounds and perform physical roof inspections.
- Ability to set up a one-story ladder independently and access attic spaces.
- Comfortable walking roofs up to an 8/12 pitch.
- Willingness to request team support for commercial or complex inspections when needed.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and company software.
- Strong communication, organizational, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing client needs.
Results Expected
- Achieve a minimum of $83,500 in monthly sales revenue
- Maintain a gross profit margin of 40% or higher on all jobs
- Hold a closing rate of at least 35%
- Submit all required documentation (photos, contracts, and down payments) within 24 hours of signing
- Drive high customer satisfaction through consistent follow-ups and proactive referral generation
- Complete post-project follow-up tasks, including review requests, within 30 days of project completion
- Ensure commission eligibility by submitting all required documents and payments in a timely manner
Compensation
- Base salary of $50,000 (paid bi-weekly) for up to 6 months then fully commissioned
- On target earnings: $80,000-$220,000
- 25% commission on adjusted gross profit, earned monthly upon meeting minimum threshold
- Additional 5% commission on self-generated leads
- Upon completing the 6-month salary period, earn an additional 5% commission on adjusted gross profit
- 401(k) with 4% employer match (eligible after 60 days)
- Individual health insurance coverage (eligible after 60 days)
- Performance-based bonuses paid monthly and annually for those who exceed quota
