Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (locum tenens)
• Location: Akron, Ohio 44304 (Ohio healthcare jobs)
• Unit: H5 – Medical/Surgical Unit
• Start Date: September 14, 2025
• End Date: December 13, 2025
• Duration: 13-week nursing contract
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,910–$1,960 per week
• Patient Ratio: 1:5/6
• Float Required: Yes, float to other units as needed

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Nursys verification required)
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience
• Epic EMR experience within the past year (must be on resume)
• Ability to float to various medical/surgical units
• Solid black scrubs required
• Valid Driver's License or State ID for submission
• Completion of all onboarding requirements (competency exams, health screenings, background check, etc.)
• Maximum of 7 days requested time off (RTO) allowed during assignment

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with medical and surgical needs, including general surgery, colorectal, abdominal, urology, women’s health, gynecology, oncology, plastics, ENT, trauma, cardiothoracic, orthopedic, and neuro overflow
• Care for women with obstetrical issues such as intra-uterine fetal demise, preeclampsia, substance withdrawal, and diabetic pregnancies
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Float to other medical/surgical units as required
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic EMR
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards
